The sun rose for Floyd Edwards, Jr. on April 25, 1936 in Gastonia,
North Carolina where he was born into the caring arms of the late
Annabelle Roberts-Edwards and Floyd Edwards, Sr. At the tender age
of thirteen, Floyd, Jr. (affectionately known as Cho Cho) moved to
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he attended and later graduated from
Oliver High School.
In 1956, Floyd, Jr. married Delores Miles-Edwards Jenkins (Donald) and
from that union, two of his eight children were born. Floyd, Jr. worked
at several jobs in the construction arena, Federal Enamel and Allegheny
County. After working for several years, his entrepreneurial spirit took
over which led to the operation of several businesses before his joy
and passion came t fruition-Cho Cho’s Car Service. He worked
tirelessly for thirty-eight (38) years and truly loved his business and the
many people he befriended throughout his interactions at Cho Cho’s.
Sadly, the sunset for Floyd, Jr. came on Friday, March 13, 2009, before
the day turned into night at 4:36 p.m. Our Lord beckoned a weary
soldier and retired him from his labors. The Lord said unto him, “Come
home Cho Cho, you ran the race, kept the faith, and I have heard your
continuous prayers. It is now time to harvest the fruit of your life and
enter into your heavenly home”.
Floyd, Jr. leaves to mourn eight (8) children, Floyd Lee Edwards
(Gloria), Kim Paulette Edwards-Lofton (Nathaniel), Dionne Pettus, Willie
Johnson, Michael Stevenson, Trina Coates, NaQurna Bruce, and
Dayvon Ross; one aunt Willie Mae Ward (Harry); one brother in law
Charles Miles (Judy); twenty (20) grandchildren; three (3) great
grandchildren; one Godson William McIntosh; and a host of niece,
nephews, cousins, and close friends. Floyd, Jr. leaves a legacy of love
and will be greatly missed by those who knew him for his caring and
giving ways.
